Dr. Paul Lee and our dental care team welcome any and all questions about your oral health and how we can help you enjoy a healthy smile. Here are a few commonly asked questions, but feel free to bring yours to your next dental care visit.
How often should I get a dental cleaning and checkup?
Most patients benefit from a cleaning and exam every six months, though some with gum disease or other risk factors may need more frequent visits.
What’s the best way to prevent cavities?
Brushing twice a day, flossing daily, limiting sugary foods and drinks, and keeping up with regular checkups are the best defense against cavities.
Why do my gums bleed when I brush or floss?
Bleeding gums are often an early sign of gingivitis (gum inflammation) caused by plaque buildup. It usually improves with better brushing and flossing habits, but persistent bleeding is worth having Dr. Lee check.
Is teeth grinding (bruxism) something I should worry about?
Yes — over time, grinding can wear down enamel, cause jaw pain, and contribute to TMJ issues. A custom nightguard can protect your teeth if grinding is a concern.
What’s the connection between oral health and overall health?
Gum disease and other oral health issues have been linked to broader health concerns like heart disease and diabetes, which is part of why routine dental care matters beyond just your smile.
